There’s an old saying that “Birds of a feather flock together.” Well, it couldn’t be any truer than during pregnancy. When your friends have heard enough talk of water retention and your spouse has asked that you stop describing your hemorrhoids, you turn to the ladies who know your pain: The pregnancy message boards.
I think, in general, that there’s nothing wrong with message boards as a whole. They’re a good way to speak with people who are in a similar place in life that you are. Only problem? Well, when you have 200 women who are all hormonal and pregnant typing frantically to get their thoughts across, bad things can happen.
Most message boards I have visited have “hot topics” sections. Hot topics sections are a place where the crazy women all get together and argue over who is right or wrong on an issue.
Circumcision. Breastfeeding. Medicated births. You name it, they’ll argue about it.
Sure, these are all hot button issues, but I don’t necessarily think that we need to get into name calling regarding who is going to bottle feed their infant, especially since the babies aren’t even born yet!
I think, however, if you can’t resist the temptation of going onto these message boards and ahem, voicing your opinion, at least be careful of the word choices you use when calling someone out.
Having one pregnant woman refer to another as a “whore” might not exactly be the smartest thing, especially since you both did the same thing to get on that board in the first place.
