Week 20 : It’s bird, it’s a plane, it’s Jackie Chan!

When it came to pregnancy, I always wanted to know how things were for other people. How much weight were they gaining, what their bellies looked like, when they went into labor. So, of course, I wanted to know when people felt the baby kick.

When I thought of my baby in there, I always imagined a little thing, just walking around on the walls of my uterus. Yes, I know it sounds silly. I get it. But? That’s what I thought. A mall-walking fetus.

Trying to explain to someone what those first few kicks are like is trying to explain a sneeze. You see it in your mind. You can almost feel it, but you can’t put it to words.

A girl I knew had described the feeling as “butterflies in her belly.” I went weeks waiting for the butterfly feeling. It never came. Then I started waiting for big kicks. They didn’t come either.

Even better, it is more like trying to describe a fart, since that is the portion of your body that is all wonky, anyways. Go ahead. Describe one. I’ll wait.

Finally, I caught on and put the television remote on my belly. When it started to bounce, I knew it was the baby. Even though I couldn’t feel my baby, I could see that she was kicking.

The best part about when the baby started to kick meant that we had “Interactive Fetus!” Interactive Fetus was a lot of fun. You could blow on your belly and make her jump. If you pressed enough, she’d start to kick.

And sometimes, if her Daddy stuck his face next to the belly and talked long enough, she’d kick him in the face.

I worried for a long time that something was wrong because I couldn't feel my baby at all. Plus I was having a hard time bonding with the kid because I just couldn't feel it. And then I started to feel what I could only describe as as tiny hand trying to grab at the lining of my abdomen. After a while, I wanted to see if I could hear the baby's heartbeat through my stomach, so I borrowed my mom's stethoscope and moved it around, just listening intently. Turns out that the majic spot is right below my belly button. So now "our" goodnight routine is me laying on my back, stethoscope in my ears and under my belly button, and waiting for that little kick. I finally convinced my husband to try it last night and he said, "Stop pushing the kid around! You'll wake it up!" I informed him tha the baby was already awake because it had already started to move around and the whole sleeping while you're walking deal. So he caved, and the baby pushed back against the stethoscope for him. Yay for weird bonding rituals!

mine a little motorist haha i swear. Its always moving and i know its the baby because my belly will bounce. I had another ultra sound today (im 20wks) and the baby was sleeping. I told the tech he was lucky...then it just woke up and started to jump and move. He got a picture of it punching my bladder and kicking my belly, then it bounced:) Im still waiting for it to kick its father in the face...as of now he deserves that much haha. I do remember when i first found out how active it was though(i refer to it as an it because we vhose to not find out the sex). The doctor had to check the heartbeat at a check up and she chased it around for 15 minutes. She had to gel me up twice and got mad because i was laughing hysterically. Everytime she would get close you would hear beatbeatbeat then thump. Iy would kick/punch at it and run. Thats when i found out how stubborn it is and that it doesnt like pressure:)

I am 20 weeks and for about two I felt weird taps to what feels like m cervix. I've sorta started thinking this might be the baby! But I don't think she would be so low, I have no clue! I just hope that soon I can start feeling noticeable and distinguished kicks/punches/and rolling.

The first time i saw it i was watching TV with a blanket over me and it moved, and it did it again, i was amazed. At the next dr. appointment we did the "find the heartbeat" game and it kept repeatedly kicking the "electric ear". We couldn't get a good heartbeat number since it kept disappearing!

I think now it really feels like flicking, sometimes it's like I can feel something rub instead..and sometimes she kicks toward the inside and I'll get the urge to pee or a little twinge of pain in my side..I'm sure it's her because it goes away in a couple of seconds..

She always takes that opportunity to jab me in the bladder, but I would be lying if I did not say I love it.

"Yeah, kinda like butterflies in your belly." I think maybe men are the ones who described the feeling of a baby kicking to be told to all pregnant women. The part about the baby kicking your husband in the face though...We just found out that we're having another boy, and they both kick daddy anytime he touches/touched my belly. Especially if I snuggle up to him at night, he gets kicked in the back all night. It's kinda cool...like a "That's for knocking up mommy and making her miserable," from the kid...LOL.

This being my second I started feeling him kick a lot sooner than I did with his big brother...I thought it was funny b/c my husband gets so excited about feeling our boy move, so when I say he's moving my husband will run over and put his hand on my belly only for little man to stop. He was beginning to think I was telling stories when I said I could feel him untill the other night....We were both laying on the couch and he had his head on my belly so he could sing to our little guy (we've heard it makes them smart to sing or read or even just talk to them) So he's singing and stopped to watch something on t.v. apparently the little man in my belly didn't want daddy to stop b/c after a few seconds my huby got kicked (or punched) in the cheek...he jumped up and started screaming "Was that him was that him" IT WAS THE CUTEST THING I'D EVER SEEN!

As for dscribing the movement, its more like a bubble has popped inside my tummy. Its that light yet you notice it the second it subsides. I never felt a thing until my 7th month with my first baby. With my second, things are different.

I'm now 19 weeks preggers, and was not sure if the feelings I have been feeling were the baby or not. The first time I felt anything I was about 17 weeks. It was a kind of pulsating feeling in the same spot for a few. I guess the popcorn theory is probably what I am trying to describe. it only happens when I am crouched at the computer or sitting in the car. The baby especially likes to move around a little after I eat a big meal!!!

I don't know if I'm just missing it at other times of the day, or if maybe something is wrong. Am I just being over-protective and paranoid already, or could something really be wrong with my baby?

I'm 20 weeks now, been feeling the baby move for about a week now. The best way I can describe his/her movements... is that it feels like a popping feeling on the inside. Some really rapid popping when the baby is real active and a couple of pops at a time when they are relaxed. Some would say its like the popping of popcorn And they really do have their own time table!!

I am 19 weeks pregnant and I started feeling the baby move early 14 weeks. This is my fourth pregnancy. With my first son I was 6 1/2 months pregnant before I even knew he was there and the only reason I found out was that my husband and I were laying in bed and saw something move under my skin and were horrified because we didn't know what it was. I think the idea of a fish is GREAT! I've been feeling movement since week 12, and in the past 2 weeks, have felt more punching/kicking feelings - not just flutters. Have had several ultrasounds due to a low-lying placenta, and can see that the baby moves almost constantly, although I can't always feel it. It's a welcome feeling and right now I enjoy it. She STOPS moving when her daddy talks, just like her big sister did.

I am 19 weeks pregnant and I've felt the baby move. The very first time I felt it move, it was a flutter but after that it seems the movement was more of a stirring--like something's been dormant and now its comeing to life. That's not really a specific description but that's the best way I can put it in words. It does feel weird to me, though..I get excited when I feel it but its rather strange.
I've heard people say as the baby grows, its movements become stronger.

With my first, I didn't know at first that I WAS feeling the baby move: I thought it was something else. Once I realized what was going on, I would say it was NOT a "flutter." Weird, but I thought it was more of a slow scratching/scraping, like someone gently running a finger along the inside of your lower guts. Later, I felt what was more like flutters, then whole-body movements (after a loud noise). Then later: Haaa-YAH!

Right now, at 33 weeks, I think that the best way to describe my baby moving is like being in a massage chair and those balls moving up and down your back.. Not the vibrating part, of course, but you know how if your back is too close to the chair, the balls will try to force you forward a bit, I think that's how it feels like to me..
