After many sleepless nights spent pondering the humorous nature of pregnancy, our yet-to-be-pregnant cartooning artist realized she was going to need some help from moms who'd been there. Happily, a beautiful collaboration between the artist and our snarky freelance mom blogger, the sarcastic journalist, sprung up to save the day! The humor was conceived together and each panel was hand-drawn by our relieved cartooning artist.

this particular idea was not born in a flash of light. originally, i was just going to have a hand holding the box to allow the reader to read what the guy is now reading.
this was about the time i really started to hit a wall with pregnancy humor and was really grinding away at ANYTHING.
i think the expression on the girl's face pretty much saves this one from being a rather average panel.

When I told my husband I was pregnant, I did it when we had company over. I was a smoker and me a my best friend bought those skate shoes so we could relive our childhood. I found that everytime I smoked a cigarette, I would get sick. I thought I was just dizzy from the shoes. But, was 3 days late. So, I told my husband that me and Tracy were going to McDonalds for a hamburger. We jumped in the car, went to the store and bought the pregnancy test. We drove through McDonalds drive through and rushed home. I opened the pregnancy test in the car and stuck one in my back pocket. Tracy told me to let her know what it said. When we walked in the house, the guys were watching football. I went to the bathroom like nothing was going on and took the test. By the time I started peeing on it, It said pregnant! I was in utter shock! I must have sat there for a good 2 minutes. I walked out of the bathroom right over to my husband. (Tracy was sitting next to her husband, she could tell by the shocked look on my face that it was positive). As my sweet, considerate, loving husband sit there, I just handed him the pregnancy test. He sat there for about 30 seconds, the longest thirty seconds of my life, and then grabbed the pillow and covered his face. He didn't speak to me for 2 days! I didn't even get a good-bye, have a good day at work, I love you, nothing. Like I layed there and got myself pregnant. He later asked me why did I tell him with Jeff and Tracy there? I told him for protection!

That is really sad about your husband's reaction. My husband was so happy he cried.

Kristin, that is soo funny! It remindes me of my hubby's reaction. When I told him that I was pregnant, he looked at me and then said "I guess my soldiers still work, huh?" That cracks me up every time I think about it. God Bless everyone!

I found out that I was pregnant about 3 weeks ago. I am now 6 weeks and 1 day. It took me about a week to quit smoking. A lady I am close with got really sad when she found out I was pregnant and started to almost cry. I tried to have one more after that day but it didn't work and it has been about 2 weeks and the cravings aren't bad at all.

I'm so glad you were able to quit smoking Joy-a! My mom has been trying to quit. She tried several times and so far she hasn't been able to. Do you have a lot of self control or how did you quit. I would love it if my mom could quit. Good luck with your pregnancy! God bless to all the mommies out there and all the soon to be mommies too!
