About the pregnancy cartoons
After many sleepless nights spent pondering the humorous nature of pregnancy, our yet-to-be-pregnant cartooning artist realized she was going to need some help from moms who'd been there. Happily, a beautiful collaboration between the artist and our snarky freelance mom blogger, the sarcastic journalist, sprung up to save the day! The humor was conceived together and each panel was hand-drawn by our relieved cartooning artist.

this was an evolving concept. at first the idea was to have the baby actively kicking the dad in the face-- but it was a bit challenging to deliver the joke the way i wanted in just one panel.
and i actually prefer to let the reader use a bit of deductive logic to figure out what's actually happened.
as far as the actual creation, this was one of my quicker compositions (i think it took me less than two hours from start to finish!).

My fiance' actually has that happen to him almost every time he goes to lay his head on my belly. He can hear the heartbeat and taps it out for me. But now that the little boy moves he doesnt do it as much...lol!!!

aww, i cant wait for this to happen to me and my husband, lol!!! so far he kicks a lot, but my husband is only able to hear him move around at this time

My husband had really pissed me off one day. Later that day he tried to make it up to me with sweet talk, and laying his head on my stomach. He didn't even get his head fully down before the baby gave him two strong kicks to the face, it was absolutely HILARIOUS although he didn't think so. I told him he got what he deserved, and not to piss me off again!

It is so funny that my fiance always wants to feel the baby kick but always seems to miss it until one day he put his face there and got a big surprise!!

I'm trying to figure out how the father is feeling. I can't tell if he's upset or embarrased, proud as well for the kick or is wishing he could reprimand the little being....his expression is almost emotionless. I really like your concepts though, you're good!

That is too cute! I can hardly wait for my little one to start kicking. That is my absolute favorite part of pregnancy. With my first if he wasn't moving and I got worried, all I had to do was eat Srawberry swirl ice cream, then wait about 5 minutes, and there he goes!! That was beyond amusing!:) Hehehe. With my daughter, my second, I never had to worry about her kicking, she was a very busy little thing from early on. Enjoy every kick, it'll be over before you know it. I can hardly wait to see if this one kicks my hubby in the face!! I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure it happens!! Hehehehehe.

I felt my baby kick finally!! My hubby was even able to feel it last night too. He's a strong little guy. I'm only 17 weeks and this is the earliest I've ever felt the baby. I guess it's true that with every pregnancy you feel it earilier. It's so cool!
