About the pregnancy cartoons
After many sleepless nights spent pondering the humorous nature of pregnancy, our yet-to-be-pregnant cartooning artist realized she was going to need some help from moms who'd been there. Happily, a beautiful collaboration between the artist and our snarky freelance mom blogger, the sarcastic journalist, sprung up to save the day! The humor was conceived together and each panel was hand-drawn by our relieved cartooning artist.

this is a great concept that i owe to our sarcastic journalist.
i instantly loved the idea and enjoyed drawing a three-headed baby much more than i thought i would. i think they/it are/is rather adorable actually.

Ok, so maybe I'm confused. Was it supposed to be one baby that's freaking out or a baby with literally three heads? If it's the first, I thought this was absolutely hilarious. People freak out over caffeine way too much.

I think you should do one about the age differences in pregnancy. like a 32 year old mom vs. a 20 year old mom. that'd be awesome!

this is hilarious and so true. people are judging you everywhere you go! I dyed my hair once (my DOCTOR said i could) and I was getting lectures by even my boss at work.

I dont care what anyone says, this is hilarious and instead of sitting around fretting if anything bad is going to happen to your baby you can see this and see it as possibly the one thing you wouldnt want to happen and LAUGH and LIGHTEN UP a bit!!! ITS A JOKE!!!

So hilarious!! All these people on here trying to be so proper and say it isn't funny. That makes it even more funny. You know you laughed. It's just a joke. Everyone knows you can have some caffeine and it's not gonna cause something crazy like that. Lighten up and learn to laugh!! :)

This is hilarious! I'm glad to see that not everyone is worried about being politically correct! If it scares you that you might have "defective" children then get over it. Children are precious no matter if they have special needs or not and every parent should be appriciative and pround of any child they have, no matter how they get here...every child needs love and you'll find alot of special children just want to be treated like any other child.

that was really wrong. now what if some girl on here KNOWS she's having twins or triplets or even one baby that's got a physical problem and they are already upset over it.. all this is gonna do is make them that much more upset and even if it's NOT her fault she will have those thaught after reading this!! I didn't really get it at first, but I didn't find it offensive upon reading the comments here. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and there's nothing wrong with sharing your thoughts either! I also think that there's too much fear planted in expecting mothers already, and having caffeine is not going to damage your baby like that. So LOL away if it makes you happy! :-)

This didn't make me happy, rather it made me sad. Think about it, every woman no matter how carefree you are is always carefull about what you indulge in during pregnancy and tend to have even the littlest guilt if something isn't just right with your baby after birth. I'm sure you wouldn't really be laughing if you've had a deformed baby b4 or had to abort your baby cos of some medical reason. Let's be a tad more considerate. That apart, i've enjoyed your cartoons till now.

I think this is funny. She isn't trying to make fun of 3 headed babies. She's making fun of not only the people that have advice and doomsday warnings about everything pregnancy related but us too. My first can of coke after I found out I was pregnant I was panicked and guilty and wondered what really could happen. Yes some people might have deformed babies... but this cartoon isn't making fun of them... it's making fun of the people that will whisper behind their backs saying it was something stupid like caffeine or lunch meat that caused them to be so.

Wow some of you really need to calm down. The cartoon is clearly not making fun of children with disabilities or deformities, if that's the way you see it maybe you need to get off the internet because everything is going to offend you.
I don't see how anyone can miss the fact that the cartoon is simply poking fun at the kind of people who see an usual situation and immediately start listing what someone must have done "wrong" to create it.

As a first time mom-to-be, I was a little nervous after seeing this cartoon. We all wonder what the consequences of our actions will be especially to our children. The cartoon is intended to be funny but for someone like me the first thing that would come to mind is guilt/nervousness/worry not laughter. The other cartoons were funny! This one is borderline, hence the numerous comments.

Oh my goodness! I'm 38 weeks and just found this website - I wish I'd known about it all along! I would've printed out this cartoon and showed it to everybody who gave me "advice" about how to have a healthy pregnancy! I've listened to my body and my doctors and things are going great. Maybe I'll tell all those people who yelled at me for continuing to drink Diet Coke that I had to have the baby's other two heads removed before I could bring it home from the hospital! HA!
And honestly, if anybody out there, first time pregnancy or not, truly is offended because they cut out caffeine in order to prevent this, or because they are afraid they might actually HAVE a three headed baby... seriously, get off the computer and go cancel your subscription to the Weekly World News, okay? Even conjoined multiples don't come out with extra, fully functional heads while being completely normal from the neck down.

I think to really get this you've had to have had people around making a big deal about every little bit of caffeine you drink. Just the occassional sip of DP from my sister or fiance evokes a response that I've somehow seriously messed up my future child. It's funny.

I think this is very funny. I am 20 weeks pregnant and I cannot say enough how many times I have gotten an "Evil eye" or someone trying to tell me what I can and cannot do. This just compliments that. There are so many women out there that take everything serious and doesn't realize what you can really do.
This would be something if this were really true. And no, I do not think that this comic strip is making fun of anyone or anything. It just shows how judgmental people are and how serious they take pregnancy.

I am not offended at all but I don't think this cartoon is funny. It is insensitive and kinda cruel. I know for a fact that there is atleast one set of two headed twins out there and it's just not nice. Maybe if you would've changed the joke. It's not so much the picture but seeing the women gossiping in the backround and then just putting the fear out there that if you slip up AT ALL something like that can happen. It's not right. I would adjust this one if I were you.

i thought this was very cute and i got it, like other's have said you all need to relax...... when i was pregnant with my son i drank soda just about everyday if not everyday and other things but he is now a year old and the healthiest baby i have ever seen. to everyone who is affended by this dont read it. there is nothing what so ever affensive about this, and you all need to stop worrying so much about every little thing you do that other's think could harm your child, dont listen to them listen to your gut instinct you havent had someone there all the time telling you what to do your whole life your grown women and can do what you want to do just as long as you dont think that your hurting your child in anyway. i just say stop worrying what everyone else thinks and just worry about what you think and how you feel, its up to you not you and the whole world. good luck to all that worry to much

oh please some people should just get a life!!!! REALLY. It is funny, get over yourselves and relax!! I craved coke and what we call biltong (which is dried raw meat - but only treated so its not rotten.....)this side of the planet (south africa). I guess much like beef jerky??? (sp). the other day my gynae even told me to have coke before visiting her so the baby would be active and we could see what it is. and it worked!!!! Im having a boy!!

i thought this comic was hilarious!!!! i'm diabetic so i have to watch my diet very closely, my child is going to be born with a birth defect possibly but i don't feel sorry for him or for our family because it was predetermined from the start. everytime i drank a diet soda people would look at me and whisper or some would even have the nerve to make a comment like, "do u know wat caffeine is doing to your baby?" and i'd be a smart allec and say, "get him wired for the day?" to everyone who finds this offensive u need to chill out its poking fun at the people who think the know everything not the 3 headed baby, if u don't want to be offended get rid of the internet, smash the tv and sit in the dark and never go outside.

Jennifer, I know how you feel. When I got pregnant with my first and I found out about caffeine being a bad choice, I freaked out. I had been drinking about 3 or 4 cups of coffee every morning. I was actually craving coffee. Weird I know. Has anyone else had that happen? Anyway, Jennifer, you'll be ok. My doctor just said to get decaf instead and as far as soft drinks go, I can't stand them now so I don't have to worry about that. Just ignore it hon. By the way, how far are you?
