About the pregnancy cartoons

After many sleepless nights spent pondering the humorous nature of pregnancy, our yet-to-be-pregnant cartooning artist realized she was going to need some help from moms who'd been there. Happily, a beautiful collaboration between the artist and our snarky freelance mom blogger, the sarcastic journalist, sprung up to save the day! The humor was conceived together and each panel was hand-drawn by our relieved cartooning artist.

I'm in my 16th week and this is me every time someone asks how I feel or how I'm doing...it's extremely annoying you just want to yell at them "HOW DO YOU THINK I'M FEELING GOING THREW ALL THIS!?" Don't get me wrong I love being pregnant but man the aches and pains of pregnancy..

ok, not only do i not feel ANY of these things, but if some random lady comes up and reaches for me im going to be like " ummmmm, u r invading my personal bubble lol". i dont mind being asked about it (even though still at 14 weeks im not showing so if some random person asks to touch me it would scare me because idk how they can even tell) but the touching could be an issue i never even thought about lol.

I may curse myself by saying this...but I haven't had this happen to me yet! The only people who insist on rubbing my belly are my aunt and the daddy. Can't say either one of them bother me! haha. I sure hope some old woman doesn't come up to me soon - I've never been very good at keeping my mouth shut.

I love "but isn't this what you wanted?" Well no, I wanted to have a baby, not to be sick and miserable every day for 40 weeks straight....

so true. everyone wants to know how you are doing but if you tell them the truth they think you are "whining" and say, " oh, you've got a lot more of that coming." people are just cruel!

My pregnancy was planned, so I knew I was pregnant quite a bit earlier than some women. And, foolishly, I told everyone I work with and all my family and friends. I immediately got the "how are you feeling?" every day, which doesn't bother me because it's people I know and they're genuinely interested. But when they started saying that I was showing at 10 weeks, it started upsetting me. I wasn't showing. I've had a little pudge since the birth of my first child five years ago, and no one really noticed before because no one was looking for it. Now that they're looking and trying to see if I'm showing, they see my pudge and think it's a baby bump. And it's really embarassing to be like "no, that's just fat...yes, I've always had it, you just never noticed it before." But I'm at 14 weeks now and baby is big enough to push some of my insides out of its way, so now I do have a little belly. It isn't baby, just displaced innards, but I've gotten to the point where I don't bother correcting anyone anymore. I'm just glad they aren't touching me...yet.

I really only have family ask that. But when you go to a family gathering and you have to answer each person individually that gets a littly tiring. Other than that I'm pretty lucky, not too many people ask. About the belly rubbing the only people who do that is my hubby and my best friend. Lucky there too I guess.

To the Jessica that wrote about being skinny and not showing. I feel you on that one. I am naturally small, so I hear from strangers that have overheard conversation, you're not big enough to be 14 weeks ( or however many weeks I am that day).

CARLIN... I hate that too. I went to the restroom at work the other day and this lady came out of the stall after me and came right up to me and rubbed my stomach. I wanted to vomit! I can't stand that in the first place, but, if your gonna do it, WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST!!!

I have decided next time some one rubs my belly i will reach out and rub their bum - when i get the funny look I will say "O sorry I thought we were pointing out everything fat...." heeee heee. But why do people think just cause it is sticking out so much that they can go ahead and rub it?????

I must say, I love my Grandmother. God bless her little heart. I am 29 weeks pregnant with my second son and I saw her the other day. She asked me how I was feeling an I told her I was a little tired. She proceeded to tell me that I looked like crap and that I needed to put on makeup anytime I left the house. I was crushed because I actually spent time that morning fixing my hair AND makeup. I thought I actually looked better than most days! Shows what I know.

This is perfect! This is something I think most pregnant women deal with!
Everyone wants to know how you're doing, how you're feeling, and it's really hard not to be short with them.
I always tell them exactly how I feel - "Pregnant."

this one was an obvious one and one of the first concepts i came up with. when i was starting to put all this stuff together, i was looking at the list of "typical symptoms" and my eyes just popped out of my head.

i have no idea where the concept of a glowing pregnant woman came from-- pregnancy sounds more like a very evil nine month flu than anything else.
