Making the cut: choosing 40 great pregnancy books

Each book listed here has been painstakingly reviewed according to three different criteria: 1) the books current reputation on the market, 2) the value of the information being provided to new and expectant parents, and 3) it's overall readability.

Some of the books are old standards (but newer editions) and some of the books were published last year and touch on topics in new ways that we believe are relevant to modern parents.

If you disagree with our selection or believe that there is a better book out there on pregnancy, please feel free to contact us at:

We welcome all comments, criticism, and advice. We'd like this to be the best top 40 listing for pregnant and new parents EVER.

PUPP stands for Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Placques of Pregnancy. It's just itchy red bumps you get on your skin during pregnancy. They apear in the later part of pregnancy and are usually found around your belly where the umbilical cord is, the thighs and other areas like your butt. They may itch pretty bad and spread a little. You can use Nivea cream or cortisone creams to help soothe the itch and "rash". Other then that their not to serious and they'll disappear after you deliever. Really, they're no big deal.

Its not true that it only happens in first pregnancies, I'm in the last leg of my second, and i started noticing these bumps last week. SUPER ANNOYING! I thought it was dry skin or bug bites so i washed everything. Good to know there is a name for these things.
